House Pride

Wizard students at UUWA are sorted into one of four multi-age houses in which they will spend the first part of each camp day. These spaces, which allow for mentoring relationships to grow between older and younger students, offer a sense of identity and comradery. We call this spirit of community building "House pride" - and you shouldn't be surprised if your wizard asks to wear their house colors all week! House pride is an enormously important piece of the UUWA culture which has kept our students returning year after year. Throughout the week, Houses will compete for the House Cup by earning House Points in assemblies and classes. This is a very friendly competition which encourages House pride, but there can still only be one winner come the end of camp. UUWA believes learning to celebrate the successes of others is an important part of being in community.

Making magic with meaning

UUWA is centered on Unitarian Universalist values and teachings. This year, we'll be using The Five Jagged Rocks of Unitarian Universalism to guide our programming. During classes each day through the week, we will explore the meaning of a different rock:
  • Monday - Worth
  • Tuesday - Possibility
  • Wednesday - Courageous Love
  • Thursday - Action
  • Friday - Unity
Learn more about the rocks here!

Prepare for a transformation!

UUWA centers fun as much as meaning. The entire week is one great, big game of make believe and magic! Through the history of UUWA, we have consistently had an 80% return rate, whether participants came form the congregation or the wider community. This is because our students get to embrace their creativity, put their imagination into overdrive, and be welcomed and celebrated for exactly who they are. Our radical inclusion and diverse activities encourage our students to be unashamedly themselves as they explore their magic.
