Volunteer

UUWA is seeking youth (14+) and adult volunteers who like wearing funny hats and having adventures!
Picture

You don't have to be a kid to be in this camp!

UUWA is made possible by a team of volunteers who love making magic possible. Acting as Ghosts (youth volunteers age 14+), Professors (class facilitators), and House Leaders (week-long mentors), our volunteers work to build up the make believe world of UUWA with costumes, ridiculous names, and more.

You can join for an hour on one day of the week, or you can stick with us for the full five days. If you're interested in joining in, send an email to Chancellor Porpington (ahem, Jenn Blosser): dff@uufhc.net

Help with UUWA and get a discount!
Adult & Youth (14+) staff and volunteers get $50 off one student.

What do volunteers do?

Planning Committee:
Meet weekly beginning 4/7/22 to prepare implementing UUWA programming at UUFHC.

House Leaders:
Mentors who will work with one House for the whole week leading morning House Meetings. All materials and lesson plans are provided. House Leaders are required to be on campus for the majority of the program and take on fanciful personas to help build the world of UUWA for students. House Leaders can also serve as Professors for classes.

Assistant House Leaders:
These volunteers attend the hour-long House Meetings to assist the House Leader. Assistants are not required to be present for the full week.

Professors:
Professors facilitate hour-long afternoon classes, much the same as Sunday Faith Formation classes. Professors can choose to teach as many times in the week as they are available. All materials and lesson plans are provided.

Assistant Professors:
These volunteers attend hour-long classes to assist Professors. Assistants are not required to be present for the full week.

Ghosts:
These youth (14+) volunteers attend camp for the same hours as students but are entrusted with various roles in organizing and facilitating the program. These roles include:
  • Assisting House Leaders and Professors
  • Escorting student groups around the campus
  • Preparing supplies and materials for classes
